Pilates is a vigorous full body exercise system that utilizes a variety of specialized equipment such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Mat. Pilates is a whole body workout as well as a mental workout.

Prerequisite: Assessment by a Pilates instructor to assess the member's ability to move to the regular classes or begin with the Intro Package.

The Intro Package consists of four 55-minute private sessions and is designed for those new to the Pilates Reformer. You will learn how to personalize reformer settings, focus on breathing, body-awareness and the core principles that constitute the Pilates repertoire.  Upon completion most are recommended to move up to our complimentary group reformer 1 level classes. Reformer 1 class members focus on building strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and coordination through slower-paced, beginner exercises. They will continue to improve their body awareness and will know how to modify exercises if necessary. Members will mobilize their spine and peripheral joints in every direction while focusing on their breath patterns and their stability in the pelvis, rib cage, shoulder girdle, and neck. This class is a prerequisite to Level 2 Pilates classes.

Minimum requirements: Participants must have completed the Intro Private Package OR Ready, Set, Go. Additional requirements: Members must have no major structural injuries and should be able to follow verbal cueing in a group class environment.

For those desiring a more challenging workout, at this level you will gain the ability to demonstrate more control and strength by utilizing your powerhouse muscles. You will gain a better understanding of the control that is essential while performing the exercises. OB

Reformer 2 class members continue to build strength, stamina, flexibility, balance and coordination while performing faster-paced, intermediate-level exercises on the Pilates Reformer. Class members will mobilize their spine and peripheral joints in every direction while focusing on their breath patterns and their stability in the pelvis, shoulder girdle, neck and rib cage. Minimum Requirements: Participants must have approval from the Pilates director prior to joining level 2 classes. If members have not taken any Pilates classes in 6 months and wish to join the Reformer 2 classes, the Director might require a $65 one-hour Pilates assessment prior to enrollment. For their personal safety, members who do not have the approval of the Pilates Director may be asked to leave before the start of class.
